Attorney Darrel Allahar and Ex-Footballer David Nakhid Join the New Government in Key Roles

May 22, 2025 – Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced two new appointments to her administration, following the United National Congress’s victory in the 2025 general election. Attorney Darrell Allahar has been appointed as a Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister. A seasoned legal professional, Allahar previously served as a Senator and chaired the UNC’s Elections Management Committee, which oversees internal party elections. Former national footballer and UNC Senator David Nakhid has been sworn in as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs. Nakhid is known for his international football career and work in youth development. These new appointments occurred less than 24 hours before Parliament opens at 1:30 PM on Friday, the 23rd.
