Chief Secretary Farley Augustine clarified that the THA has settled all invoices received by March 27th 2024 from contractors involved in the Gulfstream oil spill response efforts, including the All Tobago Fisherfolk Association. He stated that any outstanding bills are for invoices submitted after that date. Augustine also emphasised that the THA cannot and will not issue compensation at this time, as doing so could jeopardise fishermen’s ability to receive payouts from the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund.
