Maternal death could have been avoided

Scarborough, Tobago – A former director of the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) Board, Max James, claims the death of a pregnant woman and her baby a week ago could have been avoided if the Roxborough Hospital had been adequately staffed with midwives.

James asserted that modern medical advancements are too significant for women to die during pregnancy, highlighting a critical gap in the island’s healthcare services. His comments bring to light long-standing concerns about staffing levels and resource allocation at the Roxborough Hospital, particularly in its maternity services.
