Tobago Oil Spill: Sunken “Gulfstream” Barge Raises More Questions Than Answers
President of Fishermen and Friends of the Seas, Gary Aboud, has raised concerns about the true details which led to “Gulfstream” drifting in Tobago, leaking hydrocarbons
Scarborough, Tobago – February 15, 2024 – The discovery of the sunken barge, identified as “Gulfstream,” which was reportedly carrying crude oil from Panama to Guyana, has generated more questions than answers regarding the recent Tobago oil spill. Adding to the mystery, the tugboat named “Solo Creed,” responsible for towing the “Gulfstream,” and its crew are currently missing.
Gary Aboud, President of Fishermen and Friends of the Seas (FFOS), has publicly expressed concern over undisclosed details from the Ministry of National Security. He notes that critical information is being kept private from both the public and the Tobago House of Assembly (THA). This lack of transparency is deepening anxieties surrounding the environmental crisis and accountability for the oil spill in Tobago.
