$125K in Cannabis Plants Destroyed in Tobago Police Operation

A cannabis eradication exercise conducted in Tobago has led to the destruction of approximately $125,000 worth of marijuana. The operation, which took place between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on a recent Saturday, was carried out in the Moriah Police Station District. Acting on intelligence, PC Thorpe led a team of officers into a forested area about 360 meters off Northside Road, Castara.

There, they uncovered a cannabis field spanning roughly one lot of land, containing an estimated 250 fully grown marijuana plants. Officers also discovered a makeshift camp and drying rack nearby, believed to be used for processing the illegal crop. All plants and structures were destroyed on site, in keeping with standard police procedures. The operation was coordinated by Inspector Bacchus and Acting Inspector Stewart and led by Ag. Sgt. Gordon-Harris and Ag. Sgt. McMillan. The exercise was executed by members of the Tobago Divisional Task Force, with added support from the S.I.U. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and police are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that could aid in similar anti-drug operations.
