March 7, 2025 – With gender-based violence continuing to plague society, Gender and Child Affairs Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy assures that the central government is paying attention. Speaking at a Prime Minister’s breakfast in commemoration of International Women’s Day, Webster-Roy outlined several programs her Ministry has launched and is developing to address the needs expressed by women.
Webster-Roy shared that they are working to create the right response needed for women and called on citizens across the country to collaborate with the government in making this a reality. While urging more citizens to join the effort, Webster-Roy also encouraged women in leadership to be more welcoming to other women who may have the ability to contribute to the cause. Webster-Roy also noted that while celebrating women is important, it’s equally crucial to recognize the men who are allies to women. She praised Acting Prime Minister Stuart Young as one of the country’s best male allies for women.
