March 7, 2025 – Saturday, March 8th, is International Women’s Day. To commemorate the day, a symposium titled “Action For Her Future” was hosted by the Girls of Impact Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Youth Energized for Success Programme of the Division of Community Development, Youth Development, and Sport. The event saw young girls, principals, and female teachers from secondary schools across Tobago in attendance.
Secretary of Education, Research, and Technology, Zorisha Hackett, delivered an inspiring keynote address. She urged the young women to resist societal structures that limit their potential and to take their rightful place in society, stating, “We women are not here to simply fit in… we are here to lead.” The symposium, held at the Division of Community Development, Youth Development, and Sport, included sessions on building self-confidence, leadership goal-setting, and financial literacy, all aimed at empowering the next generation of female leaders.
