WASA confirms tank was decommissioned

W.A.S.A. assures residents that the tank in which 3 decomposing bodies were found was not in use.

The Water and Sewage Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (WASA) confirmed in a press release today that three bodies were discovered at one of its decommissioned, unmanned storage tanks in Parlatuvier last night. WASA assured residents in the surrounding area that the discovery does not affect the quality of water supplied, as the storage tank has been out of operation for over three years. Although the grounds of the facility are regularly maintained—most recently with landscaping work done on August 21, 2024—WASA clarified that routine checks are no longer conducted due to the tank’s decommissioned status. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
