Tobago’s stunning coastlines are under threat from mounting pollution, but residents and visitors alike will have an opportunity to take action during the 2025 International Coastal Clean-Up this September.
The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) is calling for volunteers to join the island-wide effort on Saturday, September 20th, and Sunday, September 21st, starting at 7 a.m. Clean-up activities will take place across eight key beaches, from Courland Bay to Tyrrel’s Bay in Speyside.
The initiative is part of a global movement to combat ocean pollution and protect marine life. In a previous national clean-up effort, volunteers collected more than 28,000 pounds of waste, much of it harmful single-use plastics that pose serious risks to turtles, coral reefs, and coastal ecosystems.
Organizers say the event is not only about collecting trash—it’s about preserving the natural beauty and environmental health that sustain Tobago’s communities and economy.
