In its 55-year history, the Carib Great Race has been won by Mr. Solo for the 19th time. The winning crew, consisting of driver Hayden Charles, throttle man Darin Marshall, and navigator Joseph Charles, embarked on their journey to Tobago as the sole 130 mph competitor among the 8 am starters. They reached Tobago precisely at 9:14 am, completing the race in one hour and 14 minutes.
Charles expressed, “Whether we win or not, we enjoy coming to Tobago and participating in the Great Race. But the added bonus is when we actually finish first and get to celebrate.”
Mr. Solo secured the third position among all boats arriving in Tobago. G Class victor Limitless, driven by Otis Walker and throttle man David Singh, started at 7:25 am and arrived in Tobago in one hour and 10.07 minutes. Spec Class contender Kraken, driven by Gary Johnson and with throttle man Jacques Gomes, secured the second position, arriving in Tobago in one hour and 11.41 minutes. The B-Class boat Iron Man, capable of speeds up to 120 mph, did not start the race.
In total, 25 boats commenced the race from Chaguaramas with staggered start times. Among them, six boats, including former winner Mobil Outlaw in the E Class, along with F Class duo New World Order and Predator, as well as G Class racers Timeless, Knot In Slow Motion, and Try Jesus, did not make it to the finish line at Store Bay. Additionally, Devil’s Advocate and Ruthless in the G Class, and the X Class duo Fountain and Ravers were non-starters.
