Scarborough, Tobago – February 2nd, 2024 – On World Wetlands Day 2024, observed under the theme “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing,” concerns were sharply raised about the state of Tobago’s crucial ecosystems. While wetlands globally serve as vital breeding grounds for fish, absorb carbon emissions, protect coastlines from rough seas, and offer natural revenue sources for tourism, Tobago’s most economically beneficial wetland, the Bon Accord Lagoon, is currently under severe threat.
