UNC Crime Talks

Political Leader of the United National Congress, Kamla Persad-Bisessar stated that her party will be conducting its crime talks with the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

Crime talks between the Central Government and the Opposition have been stagnant, even after a call from President Christine Kangaloo for collaboration to combat crime. Persad-Bissessar also sent a six-page letter to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley detailing her plans to fight crime which he has not yet responded to.

Former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith was also involved in these crime talks, however he withdrew after the Prime Minister said that he was not needed. Persad-Bissessar took it upon herself to initiate these crime talks with citizens due to the rising crime rate labelling the government as incapable of dealing with the crime situation.
