Scarborough, Tobago – October 22, 2024 – Yesterday, around 2:50 PM, two maxis transporting students were involved in an accident on the Claude Noel Highway near the Darrel Spring Walkover. According to initial reports, one of the maxis experienced brake failure, which resulted in the collision. Subsequently, emergency responders arrived at the scene. Although the students in both maxi taxis were shaken, there were no reports of serious injuries.
Secretary of Education, Research and Technology, Zorisha Hackett, expressed her concern about the incident. She said, “my heart sincerely goes out to our students, the drivers, and their families as they navigate this unsettling experience.” She noted that a full report on the incident is expected soon, which will provide a full understanding of the cause of the incident.
