Schools across Trinidad and Tobago are grappling with a growing wave of violence, which is jeopardising the safety and well-being of students and staff. Despite efforts by various stakeholders to implement policies and initiatives aimed at curbing these incidents, Martin Lum Kin, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association, has pointed to deeper systemic issues. He said the challenges schools face are rooted in inadequate resources and a broader societal breakdown, which continues to fuel the problem.
