Ttsec Investor Education Outreach in Tobago

March 26, 2026 — Officials from the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) are in Tobago this week, hosting a series of intensive outreach sessions aimed at boosting financial literacy and investor protection across the island. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the TTSEC and the Financial Literacy Secretariat (FLS) within the THA Division of Finance, Trade and the Economy.

The roadshow comes at a critical time as the Commission recently issued several high-level alerts regarding AI-generated investment scams and the “Forever Wealth Project,” a prohibited scheme currently targeting local citizens.

Key highlights of the Tobago outreach include:

  • Community Forums: Public sessions held at the Victor E Bruce Financial Complex in Scarborough, focusing on the “Red Flags” of fraud and the importance of verifying registered investment advisors.
  • Smart Cents School Caravan: Interactive workshops for secondary school students to encourage early savings habits and a basic understanding of the stock market.
  • Targeted Sessions: Specialized briefings for members of the Tobago Regional Chapter of the Credit Union League and local business owners on regulatory compliance and market integrity.
  • Digital Tools: Promotion of the “InvestorQuest TT” educational game and the TTSEC’s tiered online courses as accessible resources for ongoing learning.

TTSEC CEO Kester Guy noted that the primary objective is to “meet people where they are,” replacing technical jargon with practical financial knowledge. By empowering Tobagonians to distinguish between legitimate wealth creation and predatory schemes, the Commission aims to foster a more resilient and confident investment climate on the sister isle.
