TTPS Rolls Out Major Security Operation for CPL Matches at Brian Lara Cricket Academy

With the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) kicking off its home leg in Trinidad, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has announced a wide-ranging security operation to ensure safety and order during the five scheduled matches at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

At a media briefing on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Mystar outlined the TTPS’s multi-layered approach, which includes the deployment of specialised units, traffic teams, crowd control officers, and aerial support. These efforts, he said, are designed to maintain public safety and deliver a seamless experience for attendees.

Police officers will be stationed both inside and outside the stadium, with emphasis on managing entry points and monitoring crowd behaviour. ACP Mystar urged fans to arrive early, noting that gates will open three hours before match time to facilitate security checks and avoid delays.

He also advised that public parking will be restricted to the northern side of the venue. While vehicles will not be towed, he warned that parking on the highway shoulder or in unauthorised areas will be prohibited.

The first home fixture for the Trinbago Knight Riders takes place on Wednesday, August 27, at 7 p.m., when they face off against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. It marks the beginning of an exciting run of CPL matches at the Academy.
