Ttms Monitors Tropical Wave East Of Lesser Antilles; No Immediate Threat To Trinidad And Tobago

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) is keeping a close watch on an active tropical wave located approximately 2,300 kilometres east of the Lesser Antilles. As of 2:00 p.m. today, the system has strengthened, with a 70–80% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next 2–7 days.

The wave is moving west-northwest at 40–45 km/h and is expected to pass near or north of the northern Leeward Islands later this week. While Trinidad and Tobago is not under direct threat, residents can anticipate periods of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms by mid- to late-week.

The TTMS will provide the next update at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, or sooner if conditions change.
