TRRI disassociates from EMA’s recycling support claims
Tobago recycling resource initiative disassociates from EMA claims, questions funding transparency.
The Tobago Recycling Resource Initiative (TRRI) and Recycling Waste & Logistics (RWL) have distanced themselves from the contractor referenced by the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) in a recent statement. The EMA claimed to support recycling in Tobago through this contractor, but TRRI clarifies that it has no association with this entity, describing its presence as shadowy. TRRI also criticized the EMA’s ongoing support for the contractor, highlighting discrepancies in funding allocation through the Green Fund and transparency issues. They also raised concerns over outstanding payments to contractors and accused the EMA of greenwashing and mismanagement. TRRI highlighted its own success in recycling efforts, having processed over 400 tons of recyclables, and expressed appreciation to its supporters across Tobago, Trinidad, and the Caribbean. They reaffirmed their commitment to achieving zero waste in Tobago by 2030.
