September 2, 2025 – Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada have officially renewed their commitment to energy sector cooperation, following high-level talks in Port of Spain on August 29, 2025. The meeting between Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell marked a fresh chapter in regional collaboration.
The two countries reaffirmed a 2012 agreement centred on energy cooperation and agreed to deepen ties through a series of new initiatives. A key outcome is an upcoming data-sharing agreement between Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and the Government of Grenada. This will give Grenadian officials access to seismic and well data from Trinidad’s North Coast to aid in a technical study of Grenada’s offshore oil and gas resources.
In addition to data sharing, Trinidad and Tobago will provide technical expertise to support the development of Grenada’s petroleum regulatory framework. The joint effort aims to attract new energy companies to explore unlicensed areas within Grenadian waters. A promotional campaign is also in the works to market these opportunities to potential investors.
Beyond energy, the two leaders discussed expanding cooperation into the healthcare sector—particularly addressing Grenada’s shortage of specialist doctors. The talks signalled a broader commitment to strengthening economic and social ties between the two nations.
Both governments have pledged to move swiftly on these initiatives, underscoring a renewed spirit of regional unity and shared development.
