A team from Shiida Sustainable Development Solutions Limited met with Tobago’s Secretary of Health, Wellness, and Social Protection, Dr. Faith Brebnor, to discuss a Country Gender Assessment for Trinidad and Tobago. The study, conducted on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister – Gender and Child Affairs, aims to identify gender-related issues, barriers to poverty reduction, and economic growth in Tobago. Representatives Dr. Deborah McPhee and Ms. Kimberly Pierre spent four days meeting with various stakeholders, focusing on challenges faced by men, particularly young men, in areas like social protection and crime. The project is part of a broader regional study that includes Belize, Jamaica, and St. Lucia. Dr. Brebnor’s team, including social protection experts, joined the discussions, committing to addressing gender disparities and promoting inclusive development in Tobago.
