The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) is setting its sights on capturing global healthcare dollars to diversify and stimulate the island’s economy, actively positioning Tobago as an emerging regional destination for health, wellness, and medical tourism.
According to Deputy Chief Secretary and Secretary of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, Dr. Faith Brebnor, the Assembly is aggressively expanding local healthcare infrastructure through strategic international partnerships. However, the ambitious vision faces a stark dual reality: critical domestic structural gaps and diagnostic shortfalls continue to force Tobagonian patients to endure costly, time-sensitive inter-island transfers to Trinidad for specialized and emergency care.
