Temporary Solution For Cabo Star

TEMPORARY SOLUTION FOR CABO STAR

Curtis Williams, Chairman of the Tobago Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, was pleased to announce that they have devised a temporary solution for transporting goods and supplies to Tobago in collaboration with the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. This solution emerged from a meeting held on Monday afternoon when it decided that the Galleons Passage will be used as the primary interim cargo vessel.

If this initiative by the Port Authority is successful, it could open the door to positive changes for both the business community and the island of Tobago, according to Williams. Williams expressed satisfaction with the commitment from the Port Authority Management that the vessel would be in operation daily. He commended the Port Authority workers and Management for involving all affected sectors in the temporary solution while awaiting the Cabo Star’s repairs. Meanwhile, Williams emphasized that the Cabo Star is not government-owned; therefore, the vessel’s owners are responsible for its repairs.

Williams urged both the government and the THA to back the Port Authority’s initiatives in finding a more permanent solution to the concerns of the business community.

After sustaining a small fire in its engine room, the Carbo Star is awaiting the arrival of replacement parts to complete its repairs and acquire recertification before re-entering service.
