Scarborough police were involved in a high-speed chase and shooting after responding to a stolen vehicle report on April 2. A 36-year-old man reported his red Mitsubishi Lancer, PBW 1661, stolen from Yardie’s Garage. He had left it parked with the key inside for pickup. Upon arrival at 8:29 p.m., the car was missing. Around 9:35 p.m., the car crashed on Claude Noel Highway, hitting a Honda City and a Kia H100 van before flipping. Police reported a suspect pointed a firearm at them, prompting officers to return fire. Two suspects fled; one was caught nearby, while the other escaped. A third suspect was held at the scene. The captured suspects, ages 14 and 19 from Kilgwyn Bay Road, Canaan, were taken to Scarborough General Hospital. One of the suspects is currently at the pediatric unit.
