Suspect Held in Roti Shop Robbery

A swift response from Crown Point Police Station officers led to the arrest of a robbery suspect and the recovery of a quantity of cash allegedly stolen from a roti shop.

Crown Point, Tobago – February 10, 2024 – The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has apprehended a suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred at a roti shop in Tobago on Friday morning.

According to TTPS reports, around 9:30 AM, a businessman placed a green side bag containing cash and other valuables on the counter of his roti shop, located on Milford Road, Crown Point, next to the cash register. A male customer then entered, requested a roti, and when the businessman turned to prepare it, the customer allegedly threatened him with an object and demanded the bag. The suspect took the bag, which contained $5,000 TT in cash, $27 USD in cash, various identification documents, bank cards, and receipts, before fleeing the scene.

A swift response by officers from the Crown Point Police Station led to the rapid arrest of a robbery suspect. Following an extensive search of the area, police recovered a green bag containing the victim’s receipts, driver’s permit, and national identification.

The investigation led officers to Pigeon Point Beach, where a 40-year-old labourer was arrested. A search of the vicinity revealed a grey bag belonging to the suspect, which contained a quantity of cash and a bank card belonging to the businessman. Investigations are ongoing into this Crown Point robbery incident.
