Today marks 28 days since the declaration of a state of emergency on December 30, 2024. During a TTPS press conference on Friday, January 24, ACP Junior Benjamin stated that the police had carried out 1,455 operations, targeting 1,316 high-priority offenders and conducted 8,706 searches. During the press conference, Sergeant Verson Jeanville, Legal Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, revealed that law enforcement is focusing on three major gangs. Although he refrained from naming the specific gangs, he confirmed that the police are actively working to present evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions to secure convictions for individuals guilty of criminal offences.
