Tourism Secretary Encourages Young Girls to Follow Their Dreams

March 28, 2025 – Earlier today, the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities, and Transportation hosted a Youth Women’s Forum to celebrate International Women’s Day, which was observed on March 8th. Speaking at the event, Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities, and Transportation, Tashia Burris, encouraged young girls to take the first step toward achieving their dreams, emphasizing the importance of perseverance despite challenges. She also urged the young ladies to disregard those who might discourage them from striving for excellence. She reminded them that the enslaved Africans who endured the horrors of the Middle Passage overcame immense adversity, serving as a powerful testament to resilience for those facing challenges today.
