Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – 08 jan 2025 – On December 30th, a State of Emergency was declared in Trinidad and Tobago following a surge in gang violence. Critics, including Member of Parliament Saddam Hosein, argue that the regulations governing the State of Emergency have already been outlined.
During the UNC’s first political meeting on Tuesday, Hosein strongly condemned Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, calling on him and the PNM-led government to address the escalating crime situation in the country more effectively. The MP’s comments highlight a growing public and political debate about the government’s approach to curbing crime in a period of national emergency.
