Roy “pappy” Cape laid to rest today at the national academy for performing arts.
Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Dr. Roy “Pappy” Cape, a towering figure in Caribbean music, was laid to rest earlier today. His homegoing service was held at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA).
Cape, who passed away on September 7th, 2024, at the age of 82, leaves behind a legacy spanning over 50 years. He was celebrated as a dynamic band musician and an influential presence in the soca and calypso genres, having mentored countless artists and shaped the sound of Trinidad and Tobago’s music.
