Scarborough, Tobago – A man is dead following a police-involved shooting in Bethel on Thursday morning. The man has been identified as Ronelle Marcelle, also known as “Ratty.”
Police say around 9:15 AM, an officer attempted to arrest Marcelle, who was wanted for several offenses. Marcelle allegedly resisted and attacked the officer with a knife and a cutlass. A struggle ensued, and police say the officer, acting in line with the use-of-force policy, discharged his weapon. Marcelle was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital but died while receiving treatment. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
