Scarborough, Tobago – April 19, 2024 – The historic Fort King George, located uptown Scarborough, is slated to undergo major renovations. This significant upgrade was announced by Tashia Burris, Secretary for the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation. The renovations specifically target the iconic lighthouse at the Fort.
Secretary Burris reminisced about her childhood, growing up in Scarborough and seeing the light from the lighthouse span the sea. Her comments highlight the personal and historical significance of the project to the community. This restoration effort aims to revitalize a key landmark, enhancing Tobago’s cultural heritage and its appeal as a tourist destination.
