Questions Are Being Raised On When Tobago’s New Airport Terminal Will Officially Open For Use

The Former Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, previously stated that the new terminal at the ANR Robinson International Airport in Crown Point, Tobago, was expected to open by July. However, the Government has not yet confirmed whether this timeline will be met. At the post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday, Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John was asked about the official opening date. In response, she stated only that the terminal will be opened “soon,” without providing a specific timeframe. She criticised the previous administration, labelling them as irresponsible. Construction of the new terminal at the ANR Robinson International Airport began in 2020, but progress was hindered by delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the state’s acquisition of land to facilitate the expansion. To date, Tobagonians are still awaiting an official announcement regarding the terminal’s opening.
