Quantities of marijuana and ammunition were found by officers during ongoing anti-crime exercises, conducted across the country yesterday.
In the Tobago Division, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, acting on information, executed a search warrant at a house in the Scarborough district around 11:30 am, on Thursday 11th January, 2024.
The search resulted in officers finding 12 packets containing a total of 5.9 kilogrammes of marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $472,000.
Two suspects, a man and woman, who were in the house at the time of the exercise were arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, in the Central Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 2 pm and 6 pm, yesterday, during which they proceeded to the fish market in the Claxton Bay district.
There, they conducted a search with the assistance of the Canine Branch, which resulted in the discovery of 30 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
The same party of officers then proceeded to the Chaguanas district where they found 465 grammes of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $7,500.
And, three male suspects ages, 18 to 21, of Cunupia and Port of Spain, were arrested in connection with robbery enquiries in the Cunupia district.
Task Force officers also found and seized one firearm in the Longdenville district during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 11 am and 3 pm, yesterday.
Acting on information, the officers proceeded to Ravine Sable Road, where they conducted a search and found the illegal weapon wrapped in a black plastic bag.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
