Scarborough, Tobago – February 10, 2024 – Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is scheduled to visit Tobago on Sunday to tour the areas impacted by the recent oil spill. Following his assessment of the disaster zones, the Prime Minister will host a media conference to address the ongoing situation.
A media release issued today (February 10, 2024) confirmed that Dr. Rowley will lead a Ministerial team to inspect the areas of Tobago affected by the spill. This high-level visit underscores the national significance of the oil spill crisis in Tobago.

The extensive oil spill has significantly impacted Tobago’s southeastern coastline, stemming from an overturned vessel first sighted near Cove Estate on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The sunken vessel has been continuously leaking an oil-like substance, prompting widespread environmental and economic concerns for the island.
