September 19, 2025- Earlier today, a media release from the Office of the Prime Minister, Central Administrative Services, Tobago (OPM-CAST), caused confusion by suggesting that Republic Day activities in Tobago had been cancelled.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar quickly clarified the situation during a parliamentary session, firmly denying any cancellation and confirming that the Tobago Republic Day celebrations will proceed as planned. She assured the public that all scheduled events remain intact and urged citizens to disregard misinformation.
The Prime Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to national unity and celebration, noting that Republic Day is an important occasion to reflect on the country’s democratic journey. She reiterated that Tobago’s festivities will continue as a proud display of the island’s culture and heritage
