Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – The People’s National Movement (PNM) has named veteran politician Pennelope Beckles-Robinson as its new Leader of the Opposition, making her the first woman in the party’s history to hold the post.
Her selection followed a narrow 7-6 vote among the PNM’s 13 elected Members of Parliament during a General Council meeting on April 30, 2025. This historic appointment marks a significant moment for the party and the nation’s political landscape.
