August 12, 2025 – A Joint Select Committee of Parliament has highlighted concerns that T&TEC may treat regular customers unfairly while government agencies receive special concessions. This issue came to light during an inquiry today, where the Regulated Industries Commission (RIC) was questioned on the effectiveness and efficiency of public utilities in Trinidad and Tobago. It was revealed that, despite owing T&TEC over $2 billion, state agencies are not subjected to disconnections in the same way as regular customers.
