No payment yet for fishermen

Fishermen still awaiting payment for assistance provided in Gulfstream oil spill response efforts.

Scarborough, Tobago – Fishermen who assisted with the response efforts to the Gulfstream oil spill are still awaiting payment, more than a month after the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) confirmed receiving $50 million to cover some of the expenses caused by the spill. Compensation for the fishermen should have been included in this allocation.

Curtis Douglas, President of the All Tobago Fisherfolk Association (ATFA), has expressed deep disappointment with how they are being treated. His comments highlight the ongoing frustration among the fishing community regarding the delay in receiving promised payments for their vital assistance during the environmental disaster.
