NO CURFEW Instituted with Current SOE: Commissioner Guevarro Confirms No Lockdown in T&T
July 18, 2025 – Trinidad and Tobago is now under a State of Emergency (SOE), but authorities are sending a clear message: this is not a lockdown. While the government has taken the serious step to counter a major national security threat, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro has confirmed there will be no public curfew.
Commissioner Guevarro stressed that the SOE’s conditions are specifically designed to target criminals and enhance law enforcement capabilities, not to hinder the lives of law-abiding citizens. This clarification aims to reassure the public that daily life will continue largely uninterrupted, even as the government implements heightened security measures across Trinidad and Tobago.
