Nina, Pinta And Santa Maria To Be Replaced By The Steelpan On The National Coat Of Arms In January 2026
On August 18, 2024, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley announced the proposed changes to Trinidad and Tobago’s coat of arms, aiming to replace Columbus’ three ships with the steel pan. Yesterday afternoon, Parliament convened to debate the potential removal of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. The bill was passed unanimously.
