National Security & Over-Crowded Schools

Jeffrey Worrick suggested that Tobago’s porous borders are contributing to the increase in criminal activity. He questioned why the Coast Guard lacks vessels for active patrols along Tobago’s shores. In response, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine expressed his frustration with the situation, mentioning that he had even offered vessels for the Coast Guard’s use.

Worrick also addressed the issue of the current poor road conditions in certain areas of Tobago. He pointed out the unfairness of the central government’s demand that motorists adhere to road laws while the roads themselves remain in a state of disrepair.

Meanwhile, former teacher and principal, Mrs. Lucile Percy, raised concerns about certain Early Childhood Centers (E.C.C.) lacking sufficient space to accommodate more students. In response, Secretary of Education, Research, and Technology, Zorisha Hackett, addressed the issue of the increasing number of unregistered preschools.

Secretary Hackett encouraged private preschool owners to register their schools with the Division.
