June 5, 2025 – The United Kingdom’s visa requirements for Trinidad and Tobago nationals were among the key topics discussed during a recent high-level meeting between the UK High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago and the country’s Minister of National Security. Defence Minister Wayne Sturge and Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander met on Tuesday with UK High Commissioner John Dean at the ministries’ Temple Court offices in Port of Spain. Following the meeting, the ministries issued a joint statement describing the engagement as a productive and meaningful exchange on shared security concerns. Further discussions will take place, hopefully before the end of June.” No further details were provided. The joint statement noted that the meeting offered a valuable opportunity for direct engagement on critical security issues, including transnational organised crime, cybersecurity, border security, and the increasing threat of illegal firearms. Both ministers welcomed the High Commissioner’s visit and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the Port of Spain and London on matters of mutual interest.
