Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy Urges Citizens To Seek Help Against Gender-based Violence
In light of recent tragic incidents involving gender-based violence (GBV), the Minister of Gender and Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy has expressed deep sadness and sympathy for the families of Sunita Ram and Jareem George. Both individuals were reportedly victims of separate GBV cases, highlighting the ongoing vulnerability of women and children to domestic violence in the country. The Minister called on citizens to unite against all forms of violence and encouraged those affected to seek help. The Minister stressed “There are resources available to provide support.” Citizens are urged to reach out to various helplines, including the National Domestic Violence Hotline (800-SAVE), the TT Police (999), the Children’s Authority (996 or 800-2014), and others for immediate support. Webster-Roy reassured that help is available for anyone in need, especially in times of crisis.
