October 1, 2024 – Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has described Finance Minister Colm Imbert’s presentation of the 2025 national budget as a “masterpiece of misery” and a “summary of a decade of destruction.” She made these strong comments immediately after the budget presentation, speaking at a press conference. Her remarks reflect the United National Congress (UNC)‘s deep dissatisfaction with the government’s fiscal policies and economic performance, which she believes has negatively impacted the lives of citizens in Trinidad and Tobago.
