Kelvon Morris Questions DHWSP’s ‘Routine Maintenance’ Explanation for Ambulance Issues
Minority leaderKelvon Morris is calling out the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection (DHWSP) over its recent claims that the removal of several ambulances from service is due to “routine maintenance.”
In a media release, the DHWSP said the temporary inspections were scheduled to prepare for the upcoming holiday and Carnival seasons. However, Morris questioned the explanation, pointing to the towing of ambulances as evidence of deeper mechanical issues. He accused the government of a lack of transparency, stating that calling major breakdowns “routine service” is misleading and unacceptable, especially given the millions spent on the fleet.
DHWSP Secretary Dr. Faith Brebnor responded by assuring the public that emergency services would not be disrupted, as alternative vehicles are in use.
Still, the situation has sparked concern among citizens, with growing calls for clearer communication and better accountability regarding the state of Tobago’s emergency response systems.
