Maxi-taxi Drivers Blame Insufficient Ground Transportation, Outstanding Payments And Religious Obligations For Cancellations Of Cruise Ship Tours
Scarborough, Tobago – Over three hundred cruise ship passengers had their eagerly anticipated Tobago tours cancelled over the recent weekend, due to a combination of factors including insufficient ground transportation, religious obligations, and outstanding payments to operators.
With more than seventy cruise ships confirmed for Tobago’s 2023/2024 season, the issue of meeting demand for tours is critical. The Port Taxi and Maxi Federation Association has come forward to defend its inability to fully accommodate the influx of visitors, citing the aforementioned challenges.
This situation highlights a significant operational hurdle for Tobago’s growing cruise tourism sector. Addressing these ground transportation shortages and payment issues will be crucial for the island to capitalize on the increasing number of cruise ship arrivals.
