Scarborough, Tobago – June 14, 2024 – Hydrocarbon deposits were recently detected near the overturned Gulfstream vessel in Tobago. In response, a media release from the Office of the Chief Secretary stated that an emergency meeting was held by the Chief Secretary concerning the matter.
Officials from the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), the THA’s Department of Marine Affairs, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) were all in attendance at the critical meeting. This collaborative gathering underscores the urgent response to the ongoing Tobago oil spill and its environmental impact.
