Can SPEL Cover Netflix FOREX Needs? Ashworth Jack on T&T’s Foreign Exchange Challenges
S.P.E.L. Chairman Ashworth Jack Says Tobago Has the Potential to Generate the Forex needed to cover the Nation’s appetite for Netflix if the Government allows it.
Scarborough, Tobago – April 25, 2024 – Can Studley Park Enterprises Limited (SPEL) cover Trinidad and Tobago’s need for foreign exchange (FOREX) to sustain its population’s appetite for Netflix? Ashworth Jack, Chairman of SPEL, believes so.
This issue gained prominence from a T&T Guardian article, which indicated that the population’s consumption of Netflix has an estimated cost of US$31 million annually, a significant figure at a time when access to FOREX is challenging in Trinidad and Tobago. However, Jack suggests that the government is not allowing the economy to generate enough FOREX to afford citizens even simple pleasures such as Netflix subscriptions. His comments highlight ongoing concerns about FOREX availability and its impact on consumer access to international services in Trinidad and Tobago.
