Health Secretary in Antigua & Barbuda Population Forum

Dr. Faith B.Yisrael, Tobago’s Secretary of Health, Wellness, and Social Protection, is currently in Antigua and Barbuda attending a critical conference focused on accelerating the Montevideo Consensus on Caribbean Population. This high-level event, the Caribbean Forum Population and Development seminar, is a collaborative effort with the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

The seminar centers on the Montevideo Consensus, a comprehensive regional agenda adopted in 2013, which outlines over one hundred priority actions. These actions span crucial areas such as population policy, youth development, aging populations, sexual health and reproductive rights, gender equality, migration, social inequality, and indigenous issues within the Caribbean.

Attendees, including Heads of Government, Ministers, Parliamentarians, inter-governmental organizations, and civic stakeholders, are examining prevailing demographic trends in the region. The forum also serves to review progress made on the Montevideo Consensus and analyze pressing population concerns affecting the Caribbean’s sustainable development.
