Gov’t to Introduce National Policy for Gated Communities
August 29, 2025 – The Cabinet has given the green light for the development of a new national policy to guide and regulate gated communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
This move aims to provide better protection for residents and ensure these communities operate within legal boundaries. Leading the charge is an inter-ministerial committee chaired by Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Khadijah Ameen, which will be responsible for designing the policy framework.
The initiative is expected to bring greater structure and accountability to the growing number of gated residential areas, including any that may be developed in Tobago.
