Gov finding it difficult to fund health care

Minister of Finance Colm Imbert noted It is getting difficult to fund the country’s rising cost of health care

Health care in Trinidad and Tobago is becoming excessively expensive, according to the Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert. He made these comments at yesterday’s Standing Finance Committee on Supplemental Appropriations for the national budget. The government is seeking to supplement the Ministry of Health by $500 million. This allocation is budgeted to settle outstanding arrears in the Ministry. However, after enduring a line of questioning from the opposition about various line items, Imbert pointed out that the costs are becoming too burdensome to bear.
